Sheena F. | Columbia, SC Personal Branding Session

A personal branding session isn’t just for someone that owns a business.  Oftentimes I think people assume that you can only invest in this type of session if you have something to sell.  And I’m here to tell you that isn’t necessarily the case for everyone.  I met Sheena through her PR rep and my branding client, Bianca of The Crawford Austin Agency.  Bianca who put the project together on Sheena’s behalf indicated she’d never had a professional branding session before so this was something I was very excited to work on with her.  I always enjoy meeting new clients and helping them with their visuals.  While Sheena does have something to sell (you can check out her book Why Am I Still Single? on Amazon!) this session goes beyond just promoting her book or advertising for her real estate business.  This session was about who Sheena is as a person.  These images will help her communicate effectively online via all of her social media channels for personal reasons as well as her businesses.

As she slowly transitions into the world of acting I’m hoping these images will also showcase a wide range of emotions needed to land those coveted roles.  And if you’re someone that is in need of a personal branding session, whether it be to showcase a product or service or just for yourself as a blogger or influencer I’d love to chat with you and see how I can help you bring your vision to life.  Contact me today so that we can begin planning for your upcoming session!

The Johnson Family | Glencairn Garden Session

Today is a bittersweet moment where I share a session that I’m so glad I had the chance to be a part of, but also let you guys know that this was my final large family session.  I’ll be explaining more about the direction that DBP is taking in the coming months (no worries I’m still shooting portraits!), but for now let’s talk about the Johnson family and their beautiful park session at Glencairn Garden in Rock Hill, SC.

My friend and high school classmate Jessica reached out to me in 2017 regarding family portraits.  She said they all wanted to come together (grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) and have their family captured.  When getting this many people together for a day it can be a task in and of itself to come up with a date that works for everyone.  And then you have to pray that the weather works out.  And in our case it did not.  So the session that should’ve taken place during the latter half of 2017 eventually came to fruition this spring.

I truly enjoyed my day spent with Jessica and her family.  Getting to know those I’d never met before and being able to capture such an important time in the history of their family.  All too often families talk about wanting to do something like this, capturing several generations, but time and busyness gets in the way and they never make it happen.  I’m so glad that the Johnson family made it a point to get this done.  And the absolute best part of it all was capturing the matriarch of the family.  She was as sweet as can be and I know the images I captured of her that day will be something the entire family will cherish for years and years to come.

Dorthy R. | Old Town Rock Hill Session

I love making connections with new clients from current or past clients that I’ve had the chance to work with and get to know.  I’m always honored when a client thinks enough of me and my services to recommend me to others.  That’s how this branding session in Old Town Rock Hill came about with Dorthy.  We met through one of my current clients and I’m so  thankful that she was able to introduce me to Dorthy.  She’s a Jill of All Trades, kind of like me, working as an educator, minister and wellness advocate with Doterra.  She enjoys teaching others about how to use natural solutions to address their everyday health and wellness needs.

During our time together we had a lot of laughs and a great time getting to know one another.  One of my favorite parts during Dorthy’s session was when her daughter was her hype man so to speak.  Her daughter came along for moral support and to help out where needed and I loved seeing her tell her mom how beautiful she was and encouraging her along the way.  Being in front of the camera doesn’t come naturally for most people and having someone there to make her feel comfortable and good about herself made all the difference in her images!

I’m so excited to see where Dorthy’s entrepreneurial path leads her and I’m definitely hoping I get the opportunity to work with her again in the future and to see where her business has taken her.  And if you’re a business owner, or someone stepping out on faith to make that transition like Dorthy has, I would love to chat with you!  Contact me today so that we can begin discussing plans to bring your brand visuals to life!

Natalie H. | Columbia, SC Blogger Session

I always have a blast when I get together with Columbia, South Carolina mom-blogger Natalie of Freely Nat.  And I know I say that with every blog post that I write about our time together, but it’s honestly so true.  She always gives me something fresh and fun to shoot and this day was probably our best so far!

We started our session in downtown Cola (aka Columbia aka Soda City) at the new, trendy hotel Hotel Trundle.  The minute I walked through the doors I was in love!  The environment was just so much fun and the staff was amazingly accommodating.  We had a blast shooting in their lobby area and checking out a couple of the rooms as well.  I definitely suggest staying here during your next visit to Soda City!
After we wrapped up that portion of our session we strolled down the street to the Nickelodeon Theater which has become somewhat of a landmark in the area.  Fun colorful shots were the goal for this portion of the shoot and I definitely think we nailed it!

We ended our session by including Natalie’s beautiful mother and daughters in the session.  We started out grabbing yummy snowcones and walked a little further to our final shoot destination.  Now that I’ve known Natalie for some time and have gotten to meet her boyfriend as well, it was only right that I meet the rest of the people that are so instrumental in her life.  It was a fun filled day that I’m so glad I had the opportunity to be a part of!  And if you’re in the Cola area and are interested in a blogging/personal branding session I’d love to chat with you.  Contact me today so we can bring your vision to life!

The Treadwell Family | Uptown Charlotte Session

When Ivey first reached out to me in 2017 regarding a birthday session for herself I was super excited!  We picked uptown Charlotte, North Carolina as our backdrop and she showed me images of gowns she was considering wearing.  And then the weather happened.  Pouring fall rain the date of our session and because no other dates in 2017 worked for us we opted to just be patient and move her session to the spring of 2018 instead.  So now that it was no longer a birthday session for Ivey we made it a family session/2nd birthday session for her daughter Olivia and then wrapped things up with just Ivey and her husband which was a lot of fun!

We met uptown near Amelie’s French Cafe on a beautiful, sunny morning.  Thankfully the crazy Carolina heat hadn’t affected things too much just yet and we were able to create some wonderful family memories for them.  We moved on to Olivia’s photos and she was a dream to work with!  She was ready for the camera and excited to let everyone know she was turning two soon.

One part of my family shoots that I like to make time for is having photos of just mom and dad together.  Often times they haven’t had professional images of just the two of them since their wedding day so even if it’s just a quick five minutes I like to make sure they have a little time to themselves to fall in love all over again in front of my lens.  And they did NOT disappoint!  I think they truly enjoyed their one on one time and I’m so happy that I was able to capture that for them.  And if you’re interested in booking a family or couples session then I’d love to chat with you!  Contact me today so that we can begin planning for your session.
