The Johnson Family | Glencairn Garden Session
Today is a bittersweet moment where I share a session that I’m so glad I had the chance to be a part of, but also let you guys know that this was my final large family session. I’ll be explaining more about the direction that DBP is taking in the coming months (no worries I’m still shooting portraits!), but for now let’s talk about the Johnson family and their beautiful park session at Glencairn Garden in Rock Hill, SC.
My friend and high school classmate Jessica reached out to me in 2017 regarding family portraits. She said they all wanted to come together (grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) and have their family captured. When getting this many people together for a day it can be a task in and of itself to come up with a date that works for everyone. And then you have to pray that the weather works out. And in our case it did not. So the session that should’ve taken place during the latter half of 2017 eventually came to fruition this spring.
I truly enjoyed my day spent with Jessica and her family. Getting to know those I’d never met before and being able to capture such an important time in the history of their family. All too often families talk about wanting to do something like this, capturing several generations, but time and busyness gets in the way and they never make it happen. I’m so glad that the Johnson family made it a point to get this done. And the absolute best part of it all was capturing the matriarch of the family. She was as sweet as can be and I know the images I captured of her that day will be something the entire family will cherish for years and years to come.
