Last weekend I got the chance to spend time with my second family. I’ve known the Clyburns since the mid-90’s, when oldest daughter Kanitra and I became best friends. It basically meant we were attached at the hip and her family became my family and my family became hers. I’ve had the chance to get Kanitra, and her little sister Gabrielle, in front of my camera a few times, but this was the first time I was able to capture the entire Clyburn family. The came to me last year regarding family Christmas photos so I told them we’d wait until 2015 when we had enough time to prepare for their session properly and get them their photos in enough time to be mailed out as holiday greeting cards.
I’m always overjoyed when families trust me to take their photos, especially when it’s the first time they’ve had any taken in years. And then to have your close friends trust you with that responsibility it means so much more. It’s a wonderful feeling to be supported in your dream by those closest to you. And as I’ve mentioned before I love it when families come prepared to their sessions. They were dressed fall appropriate and looked like they just stepped out of a catalog. Great fall colors that coordinated well with one another.
Since Gabrielle is a current student at USC (and Kanitra is an alum) they thought this would be the perfect location for their fall photos. Lots of trees and clear skies provided a beautiful backdrop for their early morning session. I absolutely love shooting on campus and get excited each time a client requests to have their session there. I had such a great time working with them (and Fergie – the dog) and I hope to capture many more wonderful memories for them in the future.
