Pantry Organization Project
As stated in my prior blog post I was able to do lots of home improvement projects during quarantine, one of which is reorganizing my pantry. This is a project I’ve wanted to work on for a while now, but never seemed to get around to.
Two bloggers that I follow on Instagram, Chasing Denisse and Hayet Rida teamed up and formed #PantryAunties and this was all the motivation I needed to get my whole life together! If you weren’t able to catch me doing this in real time on Instagram then check out my YouTube video below that goes through the entire process from start to finish and lists out where everything was purchased. I also have an Amazon Storefront where you can conveniently shop my pantry items (or similar items). Happy organizing!
…And Then The Pandemic Hit
The start of 2020 kicked off what I knew would be a career changing year for DBP. January was my best month to date and I already had so many clients lined up through late winter/early spring (see all of their amazing photos throughout this post) that I knew 2020 was going to be a game changer. And then the pandemic hit…
Like most businesses things came to a complete halt around mid-March. I honestly wasn’t sure what to do. While I saw other photographers continue working by doing Front Porch Sessions, for my business I felt it was best to stay home since my work wasn’t deemed essential. I’m thankful I was able to continue working my full time insurance job to help make ends meet.
Taking 2.5 months off from photography wasn’t all bad though. It was the first time in a VERY long time that I truly didn’t have anything to do. Even though I take a dull 4 weeks off during the holidays I’m still busy on weekends visiting with family, Christmas parties and shopping. This was truly the first time in over 9 years that I had multiple weekends to myself…and I loved every minute of it. I got much needed rest, organized my pantry (stay tuned for an upcoming post about that), read lots of books & cooked! Being so busy with two jobs left me with very little time to make real home cooked meals or try out new baking recipes. I’m happy to say that while quarantined I’ve perfected my cornbread and pound cake recipes.
I’m finally back to shooting on a consistent basis and oh so happy to see my clients smiling faces again (and I still believe 2020 will be my best year yet!), but I’m thankful for the down time and what this pandemic has taught me. Always trying to find the silver lining when life throws curveballs my way and I hope that you are too!
Denise Benson Photography | Charlotte Branding Photographer
The beginning of this year was filled with so many amazing brands! And I even got a guy in front of my lens, which if you’ve been reading this blog for a while now you know happens few and far between. I shot in some new locations, worked with old and new clients and helped my clients to create visuals for their brands that set them apart from their competition.
From my first day back at work in January until the very end of the month I had an amazing time working with so many passionate entrepreneurs. Among them were photographers, a business coach, a web developer, orthodontist, health & wellness coach and an up and coming mommy blogger. So much variety that things NEVER get boring over this way. Thank you so much to each of them for trusting me to capture them in a real and authentic way, never compromising who they are or what they stand for. And if it’s time for your brand to get a refresh with some new imagery then I’d love the chance to chat with you. Email me today to see if I can help you bring your visuals to life in a new and unique way!
