Fall 2018 Mini Sessions Are Here!

It’s that time of year again where I like to open my mini sessions to everyone!  The fall and winter seasons can be hectic for photographers what with everyone trying to get scheduled for those family portraits that they can send out for the upcoming holiday season and with me only having 3 more dates open for the remainder of the year I’m so happy that I can sent aside one full day to add more clients to my list!
Mini sessions are a great way for you to make some wonderful memories and have them captured for whatever your needs may be.  So who is a mini session right for?  Families with small kids that they think may not cooperate through a full one hour session, couples that are in the middle of planning a wedding and just don’t have the time to plan out a full engagement session, brands that need updated images in a hurry to post on their website or social media pages and EVERYONE in between!  A mini session literally works across the board for anyone looking to do a session and the ease of booking and stress of figuring out dates, times and locations is taken away from you because all of that is already planned out!  So here are the deets:
Date: October 20, 2018 (Rain date October 21, 2018 – must be available for both dates)
Time: Sessions begin at 8:00 am
Location: Downtown Rock Hill, SC
What you need to know:  Sessions are in 15-20 minute increments and you will receive 8 edited digital images available for download with the option to purchase more

Alani | Rock Hill, SC Quinceanera Session

Two life celebration sessions in a row on the blog is definitely something to get excited about!  If you didn’t check out last week’s post make sure to hop over after finishing up this one.  This session with Alani was so much fun!  Not only was it a life celebration session (which I love), it was also my very first quinceanera shoot.  When her mother, Lina reached out to me after seeing images of her co-worker’s bridal session that I had done a few months ago, I was excited for the vision she and Alani had planned for her upcoming quinceanera session.

We settled on Glencairn Garden in Rock Hill, SC as our first shoot location.  This would be the more traditional portion of her shoot and when I saw Alani in her gorgeous red gown for the first time I was truly taken aback!  She literally glowed and having her girlfriends there as her hype women to tell her “Yassss girl yassss” was the icing on the cake to give her that little boost of confidence she needed to absolutely SLAY her session.

The second half of her shoot took us to downtown Rock Hill also known as Old Town.  It’s one of my favorite places to shoot because it has texture, color and a city feel without all the hustle and bustle of large crowds in bigger cities.  The second portion of her shoot was laid back and fun and showed off her personality.  I know that her quinceanera party was a magical night and I’m so happy that Lina allowed me to capture such an amazing time in their lives and it’s something I look forward to doing again in the future.

Life celebration sessions are my new jam!  Not sure what a life celebration is?  Well that’s just my fancy way of saying birthday shoot.  Another year of life is something that should be celebrated and something we’re not guaranteed so I like to switch things up and call it a life celebration session.  And anytime someone reaches out to me regarding the commemoration of another year of life I get super excited!

Dionah saw images of a mutual friend’s life celebration session a few years ago and decided she was going to bring in year 30 in the same way.  We decided her shoot should take place in her city of Charlotte, North Carolina and the beauty of uptown is perfect for such an occasion.  However the weather and the summer humidity is not always on our side.  But even with all of those things factored in we made it work and Dionah made it look easy and beautiful!  I’m so thrilled that she allowed me to be a part of such an amazing time in her life and now that her birthday has officially passed I hope that this upcoming year is one she will always remember.

Zaakira + Jarrett Maternity Session

Zaakira + Jarrett Charlotte, NC Maternity Session

You know how you meet someone over the course of your life and their spirit just brings a smile to your face?  Almost like they’re a walking ray of light?  That’s what my relationship with Zaakira has been like.  We met many moons ago, in another life, when we were both working part time at Bath & Body Works.  We were part of a pretty amazing BBW crew (if I do say so myself) and even with us being years apart in age we got along like sisters and her laugh and smile instantly put you in a good mood, even during semi-annual sale time.  I’m so thankful that we’ve stayed in touch over the years and now that she’s a part of my book club it’s been a joy to get to see her every month.

So when she told me she would be welcoming her third child this year I knew I had to capture this moment on camera.  I’ve gotten to know her boyfriend Jarrett over the last couple of years as well and I know they’re going to make great parents to this little angel arriving soon.  Zaakira, always willing to think outside of the box, wanted something unique for her session so I told her I’d been wanting to try a lake session and once I showed her the location she was in!  So we headed up to Lake Norman in Charlotte, NC on a busy weekend morning and made some serious magic together.  I can’t wait to meet their family’s newest addition and pray for a smooth delivery.  And if you are expanding your family and want to discuss a maternity session I would love to hear from you.  Contact me today so we can begin the planning process!

Sheena F. | Columbia, SC Personal Branding Session

A personal branding session isn’t just for someone that owns a business.  Oftentimes I think people assume that you can only invest in this type of session if you have something to sell.  And I’m here to tell you that isn’t necessarily the case for everyone.  I met Sheena through her PR rep and my branding client, Bianca of The Crawford Austin Agency.  Bianca who put the project together on Sheena’s behalf indicated she’d never had a professional branding session before so this was something I was very excited to work on with her.  I always enjoy meeting new clients and helping them with their visuals.  While Sheena does have something to sell (you can check out her book Why Am I Still Single? on Amazon!) this session goes beyond just promoting her book or advertising for her real estate business.  This session was about who Sheena is as a person.  These images will help her communicate effectively online via all of her social media channels for personal reasons as well as her businesses.
