Tobi + Brandon | The White Home Session

I know you all have been inundated over the last few month with images of lots of amazing women and brands, but it’s officially time to break that streak.  Today I’m talking all about love and featuring Tobi and Brandon’s love story session at the historic White Home located in downtown Rock Hill, SC.

Their session took place during CIAA weekend and was originally set for outside in uptown Charlotte.  We knew this might pose a problem with many more people in town than usual but I figured if we set their session for early in the morning then we could get in and get out before the streets got too crazy.  Well, as it sometimes goes, Mother Nature had alternate plans for us and with the threat of rain on the horizon and Tobi and Brandon not being able to reschedule we began to do some checking around to see if we were able to find a suitable indoor option.  After a full morning of emailing and phone calls we finally settled on the White Home which was perfect for me since it’s only a quick 10 minute drive from my own home.

Sure enough the rain did come, but before it got too out of control we managed to get some beautiful interior shots as well as on the scenic wraparound porch both up and downstairs.  Their beautiful African attire provided by Chimzi Fashion made them standout against the neutral backdrop of the White Home’s exterior.  We finally finished their session on the grounds itself as the rain lightly drizzled from above.  Tobi and Brandon were definitely troopers and made everything look absolutely effortless.  I know these images will be family favorites for them for many years to come and I’m so glad they allowed me to play a part in this moment in their lives.

Whitney Elise Beauty Turns One!

“Individually we are one drop. Together we are an ocean.” – Ryunosuke Satoro

I’ve always related to the quote that states supporting another woman’s success doesn’t dampen my own.  I’m a firm believer in not only community over competition, but also connection over competition.  All too often in life women are forced to compete with one another so when we are able to connect and celebrate the success of each other it’s truly a magical thing.

I was elated when Whitney, my preferred Charlotte MUA, reached out to me regarding her one year anniversary photoshoot.  She celebrated this milestone back on March 2 and she had her vision all laid out of how she wanted to commemorate such a special occasion.  Even though we were in the throws of winter it was an unusually warm day and we took to the rooftop to capture the beautiful Charlotte skyline as the backdrop to her images.

Whitney did not come to play donning a form-fitting white body-con dress and pink faux fur.  Completely ON brand if you know Whitney or have ever visited her super adorable studio located in the Metropolitan area of uptown Charlotte.  A slight mishap took place as we began her session when the N to her ONE balloons decided to deflate on us at the last minute, but we improvised and STILL made it work.  Team work makes the dream work, right ya’ll?

I’m so excited for what’s in store for the years to come for Whitney.  She’s someone that’s gone from trusted work colleague, to my own personal MUA and waxer/esthetician to friend.  We share business advice and laughs.  And she’s someone that I trust to give all of my clients a phenomenal experience from start to finish.  Make sure sure to hop on over to her website now to see everything she offers.  I promise once you book her you won’t be disappointed!

Catherine M. | $100 Headshot Event

I’m officially wrapping up my $100 Headshot Event blog posts with Catherine, one of my repeat clients that I’ve had the pleasure of working with three times now!  It’s hard to believe that I’ve had so many headshot sessions in January that I’m not wrapping them up until the month of May.  I must truly say that I am in awe and feeling completely blessed to have worked with so many amazing women in 2019 so far!  Not only did I get the opportunity to meet new entrepreneurs, but I also got to see a lot of clients come back for refreshers which I was so happy to see.

Catherine’s previous sessions were a lot of fun and gave us a chance to get to know one another better so when she made the drive up from Georgia yet again I was excited to catch up with her and see what’s new in her chef/catering business.  For this session we took to the streets of Old Town, Rock Hill, SC which was a nice departure from her previous two sessions which both took place in parks in Charlotte and Rock Hill, respectively.

Every time Catherine posts an image of a meal she’s prepared on Instagram I’m instantly jealous that I don’t live closer to her because I truly feel that I could have a pretty successful career as a taste tester.  I’m sure my waistline would hate me for it, but my taste buds would enjoy it.

I have been waiting to get my favorite Columbia, SC makeup artist in front of camera for a LONG time and it finally happened during my $100 Headshot Event that took place earlier this year.  Maranda and I are both members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and University of South Carolina alums and with both of us working in creative fields it was only natural that we would have clients that overlap.  I’ve recommended more than a few of my clients to see Maranda prior to their session and have been blessed enough to have worked with her myself as well.  She’s super talented and that’s only surpassed by her amazing personality.

The morning of her session we met in downtown Rock Hill, SC and she showed up prepared for her session 110%.  Dressed to the nines, curls poppin’ and her makeup obviously flawless.  We had a great time catching up on what we’d both been up to since I last saw her doing the makeup for my sister’s wedding.  I’m so excited to see what’s in store for her and her business in the coming months and years.  Her strong work ethic and desire to make women feel beautiful is just part of the reason why I’d recommend her to anyone needing makeup services in the Soda City area.  Her work has been published in Inspire National Hair Magazine, Sophisticate’s Black Hair, among others.  To learn more about Maranda and to follow her visit her website or check her out on Instagram.  I promise you won’t regret booking her services for any upcoming events or photoshoots you may have.

Just because you own or work in a more traditional type of business doesn’t mean you have to have boring headshots.  I tell my clients that work in professional fields like law, insurance, and accounting, like Nikki here does, all the time that along with the more standard headshots we can also incorporate some fun images that show off your personality.

Nikki’s session took place in downtown Rock Hill, SC on a Saturday afternoon in January.  After getting to know more about her and her business, Infinity Accounting, we made our way through the city stopping at some of my favorite locations along the way.  The images we created will give Nikki a lot of content for the coming months.  And I love the fact that she’s already using the images on not only her website, but her social media accounts as well.

If you’re tired of the same old, boring headshots and are looking to spice things up and infuse more of yourself and personality into your brand then it’s time to shoot me a message.  Let’s take your next branding session from drab to fab and contact me today so we can begin the planning process!  I’m looking forward to hearing from you.  And if you want to learn more about Nikki and the services she offers you can find out more via her website, on Facebook and on Instagram.
