Katrina S. Lifestyle Branding Session

Dr. Katrina Spigner of Re-Source Solutions and I met at the start of 2017 for her first branding session and since then we’ve had the opportunity to work together two more times. She signed up for my $100 Headshot Sessions in January and more recently for an in-home lifestyle session at her home in Columbia, SC.

The first session of 2018 took us to the cold and very, VERY windy streets of Uptown Charlotte, NC and thankfully since it was a part of my $100 headshot special we were in and out in a matter of 20 minutes. And we were able to create some beautiful magic in that short time together.  Having worked together previously it made things go much more smoothly with such a short turn-around time.

Our second shoot, while still a chilly time of year, took place inside of Katrina’s immaculately decorated home in Columbia, SC. Talk about design goals!  I walked in thinking I was on the set of an HGTV show and was ready to see if she wanted to trade spaces with me. We had fun catching up on what’s been going on in both of our lives while making our way through her home and shooting in several different spaces. I instantly fell in love with her plush bedroom (talk about relaxation goals!) and wished all of my clients would consider in-home lifestyle shoots. There’s something to be said for showing your clients a piece of yourself through the space where you spend most of your time.  Your home is an extension of you and it’s always nice to give others a glimpse into that. I’m so elated that Katrina allowed me into her home to capture her in her natural element. And if you’re interested in a branding or lifestyle session I’d love to chat with you. Natalie H. Branding + Birthday Session

Natalie H. Branding + Birthday Session

Initially I planned to write about blogger Natalie’s (of Freely Nat) $100 Headshot and birthday session separately, but as my blogs kept coming I realized it would be WELL past her birthday by the time I actually got the chance to blog about it so I decided to combine both shoots into one blog. And since Nat and I have a few more projects in the pipeline for 2018 you’ll be seeing a lot more of her here!

I had the chance to first meet and work with Natalie in 2017 and we immediately hit it off! Her bubbly spirit and warm personality made her someone that was easy to work with and made the day so much fun. So I was elated when she reached back out to me for my January $100 Headshot special as well as her upcoming 27th birthday shoot. Both sessions took place in picturesque Glencairn Garden located in Rock Hill, SC, but I wanted to make them both unique since we’d be shooting there back to back. Her first session was very casual and fit her lifestyle blog perfectly. It was a cold January day but she was dressed appropriately and rocked it out!

Her birthday shoot took a bit of planning on both of our parts, and even with a few minor setbacks (hello champagne that wouldn’t pop properly and confetti that was oversized and went EVERYWHERE!) it turned out beautifully! Her birthday session was definitely one fit for a queen and I’m so glad I was able to make her vision come to life. Make sure to check out her blog Freely Nat to see what she’s up and to follow along on her life journey and make sure to subscribe to the blog here to see more of our adventures together!

Jamila S. Branding Session | Uptown Charlotte, NC

The power of the internet is truly amazing! I know over the course of the last year or so, many parts of the internet have received a bad rap.  And rightfully so, but I’m still amazed at the power it has to connect you to people the world over.  The internet is able to put you face to face with someone you may otherwise never have had the chance to meet. That’s how this session with Jamila came to be. She and I connected via a local Facebook group and would see posts and responses from one another, but had never met prior to her signing up for my $100 Headshot Session this past January.  And it’s always fun for me to connect with someone I’ve met online.

We met on a chilly winter morning in one of my favorite places to shoot, Uptown Charlotte, NC. I love the tall skyscrapers and the buzzing of all of the people headed to their various destinations. It’s the perfect backdrop for a fun branding/headshot session. Jamila is the organizer of a group known as Creative Women of HR. It is a professional and social community for women that work in Human Resources or those aspiring to work in Human Resources in the Charlotte area. They meet regularly for networking events, development, learning and so much more. This community helps women in the same profession to network with a purpose, socialize as well as building friendships. If you or someone you know may be interested in joining Creative Women of HR or learning more about them you can find them on Instagram and on Meet Up.  And if you’re in need of updated headshots or branding images then I’d love to chat with you!  Contact me today so we can begin preparing for your session.

South Carolina Snowpocalypse 2018

South Carolina Snowpocalypse 2018

If you live down South or know anyone who does then you know the minute there’s even a mention of snow the streets shut down, grocery store shelves clear out and school is officially canceled.  It’s basically a Snowpocalypse. Yeah, we go a little overboard here, but I honestly wouldn’t trade it for the world because it usually gets me at least a day out of work. So when we received snow back in January I definitely took advantage of the weather. My nephew was home from daycare so he spent the day with his Auntie Denise and once his mom, my sister, got off work we decided to do a quick shoot out in the snow.

Now typically when it snows here we’re good to get a full inch of the white, powdery stuff, but since this was a slow moving system it snowed all morning into the afternoon so it gave us a couple of inches to play with and photograph in. My nephew instantly fell in the love it! He had zero interest in being photographed and was all about getting his mittens in the snow to see what this new substance was.  As we walked through the snow, into the sitting area of my neighborhood and having a mini snowball fight he became more and more fascinated.  Seeing something new through a child’s eye is a magical moment, especially as an adult and not finding the same wonder in it that they do.  After about 10 minutes we decided to wrap things up and bring him inside and he was NOT a happy camper. We’ll definitely be storing those tantrum photos away to show him when he’s older. If you’d like to see more from this session then hop on over to Black Southern Belle where they featured this impromptu session!

Robin D. | $100 Headshot Event

charlotte branding photographyRobin D. | $100 Headshot Event

One of the best things about creating my $100 Headshot Event was the opportunity to work with existing clients. It’s always fun to catch up with clients to see where life has led them since the last time we worked together. And the fun thing about working with authoress Robin Danielle of Danny’s Closet was that this headshot session was almost one year to the date of her first branding session with me.   Robin is self-published and writes poems and page-turning literature.  She also guides other aspiring authors to drop the ‘aspiring’ and truly become authors.

Her first session took us through the streets of uptown Charlotte, NC so this year Robin decided we’d keep it comfortable and warm and shoot in her home office. I love when clients opt to do things a little differently and since she’s a writer it makes perfect sense to shoot in the space where she creates.  I loved Robin’s intimate loft space that had a cozy reading nook and a large bookshelf filled with not only the work of other authors but her own work as well. There’s nothing quite like seeing your own work displayed and the sense of accomplishment that brings.  She’s published four books (three fiction and one children’s book) and it was fun flipping through the pages and seeing her work in person.  If you’d like to check out some of Robin’s work and order a book or two make sure to visit her website, Danny’s Closet or visit her on Instagram or Twitter.  And if you’re an entrepreneur that needs fresh new visuals for your website and/or social media accounts I’d love to chat with you about bringing your brand visuals to life.  Contact me today so we can chat!
