It’s not secret that if you’ve been reading my blog for a while that things are a little backed up over here.  When you only write one blog post per week, but you shoot multiple sessions per week things tend to get backed up.  But that doesn’t mean certain sessions still aren’t worth celebrating NOW!  I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Tia’s 40th Birthday this past summer at her uptown Charlotte apartment complex and it was a dream!  She was of the sweetest clients I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and made my job super easy.  It was a gorgeous, sunny day and thankfully the humidity didn’t kill us which for the south is always a winner.

I’d never had the pleasure of shooting a session in one of the luxury apartment complexes so this was a true pleasure for me.  We made our way to the lounge area, by the pool, to the entertainment area, the gorgeous rooftop that had a perfect view of  the Knights Stadium and finally finished up in the lobby.  When you live somewhere like this you don’t need to look elsewhere for a shoot location.  It had literally everything we needed all in one place!

Meeting new clients is always a treat for me.  And when those clients come to me with a vision already in mind for their brand it’s that much better.  Lorena reached out to me regarding a branding session for not one, but TWO businesses she was ready to uplevel I was super excited to hear what she had in mind.  The first half of her session was all about her life coaching business, Legacy Driven.  Lorena feels that her sole purpose in life is to love people back to life.  She’s a certified life coach  that knows what it’s like to be broken  and have to put yourself back together.  Her mission is to help others that are in similar situations come back from that place of brokeness and with her infectious, vibrant personality she’s fit for this position 100%.

The second half of her session focused on her other business venture, Corporate Missfit.  Corporate Missfit stems from her love of fashion and how it soothes her soul.  She’s never liked to fit in and loves everything style related from jewelry to home decor to vintage clothing.  She began by selling clothing from her own closet and it spiraled into a business!  She’s the Corporate Missfit because she’s a corporate leader in her full time gig, but by looking at her you’d never guess it.

Freely Nat | Echo Collection Sessions

 

Ending my 2019 sessions with Natalie of Freely Nat with two more amazing shoots!  We’ve had a real blast shooting together this year and have come up with some amazing content for her blog.  I was happy to help her wrap up her final two shoots of this year, one featuring her biz bestie who runs the podcast Eye Speak It.  These two ladies were truly a joy to work with and capture!  The fun started the moment I greeted them and didn’t end until I put the camera away and we made our way back to our respective homes.  I love when women come together and put competition aside and truly support  one another.  Natalie and Kerri are the epitome of the phrase “community over competition”.  The aspect of this session that I loved the most was doing the podcast setup.  It was fun capturing Kerri in her element as she ‘interviewed’ Natalie.  It was a bit out of the norm from what I typically shoot and was a lot of fun!

My final session with Natalie took place in one of my favorite Charlotte neighborhoods, NoDa…short for North Davidson street.  The artsy NoDa district is vibrant and quirky and was the perfect backdrop for Natalie’s first look which was a fiery red dress that popped against the murals that weave through NoDa.  Her second look was perfect for fall as she was bundled up in a chunky knit and cute booties.  She also brought along her oldest daughter for a few, fun quick shots showing them as they spend quality time together in her final look, showing mamas they can still be cute when going out with the kids.  It was truly a perfect way to wrap up our final session together.  I already know that Natalie is working on some great content for 2020 that I can’t wait to capture for her so make sure you stay tuned for that!

I’ve got a doozy for ya’ll today!  I’m sharing not one, not two, but THREE amazing sessions that I’ve had with Bianca this year.  If you caught our earlier session from this year back in January then you know she ALWAYS brings it to her sessions and these last few shoots of the year are no exception.  We started things out this summer at a new coworking space in Columbia, SC known as SoCo.  We met up at the Bull Street location where we managed to get lots of great shots showing Bianca in her element as she worked doing presentations and with clients.  This session was a lot of fun and gave us the opportunity to show another side of Bianca to her audience.

Our last two sessions actually took place back to back.  With both of our schedules being tight towards the end of the year we had to make things work and it made for a really fun day!  We first got her and new husband Kurt together for some fun holiday lifestyle images.  Kurt is always a good sport and goes along with our shenanigans.  We capped off this session by heading into the woods for some super cute fall/winter images that are just screaming to be placed on a holiday greeting card.

Our final session took us back to Bianca’s home and specifically her kitchen.  If you follow her on Instagram then you know that she’s recently got into baking.  I love to follow along on her IG Stories to see what she creates next so it only made sense for us to get her in the kitchen and capture images of her at work.  And the best part for me was obviously getting to taste her treats  once everything was said and done.  I had so much fun creating some serious #blackgirlmagic with Bianca for 2019 and am eagerly anticipating what’s in store for 2020 and beyond!

I’ve had the honor and privilege of capturing my friend Zaakira on a few different occasions, but this was my first time having the entire Holt family in tow and we had such a great time!  Family sessions with little ones can always be a bit hectic.  The kids usually are only in the mood to take photos for 5 minutes, dad usually doesn’t want to be there at all and mom is completely stressed trying to make sure everyone looks good and smiles on cue.  Well this couldn’t have been further from the truth the day of their session.  Zaakira may have been a bit stressed but she definitely didn’t let it show, her husband Malik was happy to be there and make memories with his family and the kids…well they were a pure JOY to work with!  I tell Zaakira all the time how well behaved her children are, but putting them into a photoshoot scenario can make even the best kids antsy and bored.  Well all three of them had fun hamming it up for the camera and making sure I caught all the fun moments in between.
